Why convert your bike to an e-bike?

The easiest route into e-bike ownership is, naturally enough, to buy an e-bike. But if you already have a conventional bike, it might be worth upgrading it to a pedal assist system.

Is my bike suitable to convert?

  • Given the range of conversion kits available, most bikes can potentially be upgraded.

  • The more "normal" your bike is, the better. If your bike uses common wheel sizes, axle standards and gears, you have more options.

  • There needs to be room somewhere for a battery. This can be a problem on very small bikes, but there's always a rack or bar-mounted option.

  • Heavier-duty bikes with sturdy frames and forks tend to work better than super-lightweight race bikes.

  • The added weight of the motor and battery makes an e-bike harder to slow down, so good brakes are a must.
