Inspired by their shared passions for cycling, communication, and education, founders Mike and Sandra launched ebike.help to make sustainable transport accessible to all. Now everyone can enjoy the thrill of power-assisted cycling whilst embracing a more sustainable lifestyle.

Our founders' journey

We're real people with real lives. We love bikes, communicating and educating. It's taken thirty years to get here, and it's been a blast!

ebike.help founder Mike Davis' first article in MTB Pro ebike.help timeline 1994

1994

In the pre-digital age, Mike makes his first appearance in a print cycling magazine with a 'Retro' column in Mountain Bike Pro magazine.

1995

Still a student, Mike starts to test parts and accessories for mountain bike magazines.

1996

Mike joins the publishing company behind market-leading magazine Mountain Biking UK, working on an early incarnation of the magazine’s website.

Mike and Sandra travel to Colorado with cycling friends to ride bikes up and down mountains. They were somewhat surprised on arrival at Copper Mountain to discover that even riding along the valley was challenging before acclimatising to the altitude!

1997

Mike’s first full bike test published in Mountain Bike Pro magazine. Later in the year Mountain Bike Pro is relaunched as Mountain Bike World – Mike appears on the cover of the 6th issue.

Sandra qualifies as a teacher and embarks on a career in education and teaches the first of many students at Hartcliffe School in Bristol.

1999

Mountain Biking UK reaches its highest-ever circulation with Mike in the Deputy Editor’s chair.

2002

Mike makes a final appearance on a Mountain Biking UK cover before leaving to join up and coming mountain bike website Bikemagic as editor. The number of registered users doubles over the next few years.

2010

Mike leaves Bikemagic to embark on a freelance writing and editing career. He works for various bike magazines writing product, accessory and clothing tests plus all kinds of features. Mike also writes and edits marketing material for major cycling manufacturers, including Cube, gaining valuable insights into the commercial side of the bike industry.

2011

Mike’s work appears in Mountain Biking UK, What Mountain Bike, Cycling Plus and more, with his bike test count rising inexorably.

2012

Mike and Sandra sell their VW campervan and buy an old heating engineer's van to convert themselves into a bigger camper. Thankfully the unseen eBay purchase was a success! The converted van was designed to be fully off-grid. Sandra and Mike learn a lot about electricity, batteries, charging and solar power!

2013

Mike rides and tests his first electric mountain bikes for a new e-bike magazine, and his book Complete Mountain Bike Maintenance is published.

2019

Having taught thousands of teenagers over the years, now working at Godolphin School, Sandra extends her reach to teaching digital skills to adult teachers as she rolls out a schoolwide digital strategy. Cycling remains a passion!

2025

Founders Mike and Sandra launched ebike.help, starting a journey to make sustainable transport accessible to all. Inspired by all those they have taught and motivated by their combined passions for cycling, editorial excellence, and education, they aim to empower you to embrace the freedom of travel while reducing your environmental impact.

Through ebike.help, Mike and Sandra are crafting a future in which you can enjoy the freedom of travel whilst reducing your impact on the planet.
