Brompton's folding bikes are legendary, and their electric versions are no exception. They combine Brompton's renowned folding design with cutting-edge electric technology. These bikes are perfect for those who want the convenience of a folding bike with the added benefit of electric assistance. Brompton's electric bikes are designed to make commuting easier, faster, and more enjoyable, whether you're navigating city streets or tackling longer journeys. The new G Line rugged model aims for the first time to please riders who wish to hit the trails with confidence and seek adventure.

Models and options

Building on the existing Brompton stable, e-bikes are available in P Line, C Line and G Line ranges. The P Line and C Line ranges each offer four models: the four speed Urban and twelve speed Explore, both of which are offered with and without a roller frame. The Electric G Line is available in one format - 4 speed with roller frame - and offers bigger 20 inch wheels with rugged tyres to give the flexibility for weekend jaunts as well as city riding.

Brompton Roller Frame

The Roller Frame is a built in feature that, when folded, means that the bike can simply be pushed and rolled in the style of a suitcase.

The Brompton Roller Frame aims to make transporting the folded e-bike easier, avoiding the need to lift and carry the bike when folded.

This is great for riders who find lifting and carrying a folded e-bike challenging or awkward. The Roller Frame is particularly beneficial for riders of the electric bike range as, inevitably, these bikes are heavier than non-electric models due to the weight of the battery pack.

Commuting - Electric C Line range

The Electric C Line range is their mainstream offering, firmly targeted at commuters and city dwellers. It sits at the more economical end of the Brompton electric range, with prices ranging from £2,900 to £3,250. All models offer a 250W hub motor, three levels of smart pedal assist, a phone app to monitor and manage power, battery and range, and up to 45 miles on a single charge. Pay a little extra for the premium model and you access 12 speeds rather than 4 speeds, and the hugely beneficial Roller Frame which makes folded manoeuvring a breeze.

Lightweight and maximum portability - Electric P Line

If you're looking for premium features and a top of the range bike, the P Line is for you. With its part steel, part titanium frame this e-bike is 20% lighter than its C Line and G Line stablemates. Including the battery pack, the lightest model comes in at an impressive 15.6kg. However, unsurprisingly this build quality pushes up the price. You'll be looking at a range from £3,699 to £3,985 if you fancy investing in an electric P Line.

Other than its lighter weight, the P Line shares key electric features with the C Line range. It offers the same 250W hub motor, integrated dynamo lighting, smart pedal assist, and 300wh lithium-ion battery pack. Again, pay a little more for top of the range and you move from 4 to 12 gears, and add the Roller Frame. Combining all these features with the lighter weight and the P Line is a compelling offer.

General purpose and adventure - Electric G Line

The Brompton Electric G Line is the most versatile e-bike in the range. Available in one model only - 4 speed with Roller Frame - this bike is firmly targeted at riders aspiring to adventure as well as city transportation.

The manufacturer claims that the G Line is "the most versatile bike in the world" and say that they designed the bike to be "the best one-bike solution for the city and beyond". It's a bike that can be ridden anywhere and taken everywhere. Bold claims, but the G Line certainly has a lot to offer. The promotional video shows the G Line being used for a bike packing adventure.

The G Line has been designed with geometry comparable to a standard full size bike as Brompton aim to offer a unique folding bike that is as comfortable to ride as a well-designed full size bike. The larger 20 inch wheels and rugged tyres complete the design, ensuring that this e-bike is at home on bumpy and muddy trails.

With a focus on detail, the G Line is also designed to enable the addition of a luggage rack and to carry water bottles on frame mounted carriers.

Brompton have upgraded the battery on the G Line so that there's plenty of power to manage the bumps and slips on off-road trails. The battery is a 345wh model, with the same 4 hour charge time as the 300wh batteries sported by the C Line and P Line ranges.

Charging

Brompton have really thought about making life easy when it comes to charging. The C Line and P Line 300wh lithium-ion battery weighs less than 3kg including its bag. It takes a single click to remove the battery from the bike, and it is charged using a standard socket. Total charge time is 4 hours, and there's a boost option if you're in a hurry. It's easy to charge subtly under your desk at work. It's small and inconspicuous enough to tuck in a corner at home to charge without dominating the space and getting you in to hot water with family members.

Accessories

Brompton offer various bags as accessories for the e-bike range. There are four options, as follows:
